Low Cost Steriliser Kit

SteriPak

SteriPak is a kit that converts end of life gas cylinders into autoclaves for sterilising medical and baby equipment. Each kit costs less than 10USD. SteriPak empowers the community as the conversion itself provides work for locals that does not rely on specialised equipment. Many clinics in sub Saharan Africa are forced to reuse surgical equipment like scalpels and forceps due to their expense. SteriPak only requires water and a heat source to achieve safe, consistent sterilisation of this equipment to lower infant mortality rates and increase overall quality of life.

Rush

A mobile, extendable, modular and multi-functional wagon that can be used as a portable refugee shelter when towed along by a single adult human being. It has a compact configuration that can accommodate a single adult person, and it can fully extend its telescopic slide out sections to provide sleeping accommodations for up to four people. In addition, the wall panels can be detached to allow its frame to conjoin with similar Rush units to create a much larger and shared accommodation.

Donation Point Tap is a Contactless counter-top device that enables charities to quickly accept low value donations using a credit or debit card. Compact and cost-effective, Donation Point Tap is portable and small in footprint. The pre-set donation amount can be changed at any time through the online Quest Cloud EFTPOS website. Donation Point Tap processes a ‘set’ donation amount such as $2. Donors simply tap their card to make a donation. Donation Point Tap can be placed on a retail counter or in store with charity partners such as supermarkets or cafes.

UltraDry

More than an integration of bus stops and an umbrella dryer, the designers have managed to tap a logical time to incentivize users to participate of this product: the wait. By placing the object in this context it becomes an extension of the space and compliments the functionality of the place as a whole. The direct result of this is a safer and more enjoyable experience of public transportation and by extension a safer and more livable city for their inhabitants.

Flo

Flo is a physical toy modelled after a fish, that when released into polluted waters can collect plastic. It is paired with a mixed reality game called Flograb that is connected to it wirelessly. The intended target audience are children who look towards understanding the extent of marine pollution and help by making a difference through engagement of community in a fun interactive manner. The game uses the help of an existing water clean up project's infrastructure, to aid in trash collection at the end of each game.

Chinatown Connect

A community newspaper created by and for Chinese seniors to solve their issues of loneliness and isolation in the United States.This project lasts for one year, includes research part and design part. The final delivery contains two different version of a community newspaper, one is printed version and another one is a digital version, for the reason that seniors in the different background have two different user behaviors on newspaper reading. The design solution comes from careful observation of user daily life and behavior, as well as the mental models of different groups of seniors.
