HOME MADE

For the Architecture Biennale in Venice, Caramel’s task was to design a ‘refugee camp’, using a vacant office building in Vienna. Safeguarding privacy, as in marking a place where someone can rest undisturbed by external influences, was the first and most important subject of “intervention”. Starting with a minimal design repertoire the central criterion was that all elements can be rapidly dismounted and easily reassembled in a different location.

X-Space

In some kinds of situations of the fire that passageway has been blocked in accident. No matter what you do, you cannot escape from the fire through the door. To find a solution for trapped person get away form the fire quickly, the team find the point in window frame redesign. X-Space is redesign of the window frame including rotational structure holder. When fire coming up, all family members can easily get out of the fire through the X-Space avoiding the injury from the fire and smoke behind the outer wall.

Light Mosque

A flexible building framework that can be easily assembled forms the building’s structure. On this simple structural steel framing, series of fabric elements are hanged in order to define the interior space. Fabrics are distributed following a specific modulation and are used as spatial organization elements, as they allow for the powerful plasticity of the building’s design while responding to specific functional demands. The basically orthogonal prayer space is given a sense of flow from the light cuts, having a direct reference to the effect often used in Islamic architecture.

Tentative

Tentative is a smart compact post disaster shelter tent. A simple yet innovative tent is a way to bring fast practical shelter to emergency disaster victims; the collapsible tent is flat packed for easy transport and is suitable for all climates and only an hour to pop up with necessary few tools. The compact disaster shelter is made of a fiber and a durable weather resistant textile which is quilted sewed and consists thermally insulated perlite in between. It uses a roof that helps in collecting water and providing lighting and ventilation.

inflatable house

The white (or printed) PVC unit evokes the shape of a traditional house and relies on a modular structure. It is made of inflatable elements 1,60 m (usable) wide, 2,70 m long and 27 cm wide each. Anchored to a system of composite plastic platforms (recycled and recyclable material), the modules are connected by zippers that make the unit waterproof. Once the unit’s length is set, each module ends with non-inflatable filling panels that include either a door or a window. These elements, that allow for the unit’s ventilation, are also fitted with a system of side zippers. Protection from sun ray
