ToyBox

ToyBox is designed to provide play opportunities to the world's most venerable children. Through the innovative re-appropriation of existing cardboard aid packaging, ubiquitously used by charities to distribute relief aid to disaster hit areas in the BoP (Bottom of the Pyramid), ToyBox provides opportunities for both play and education. In this way, adopting a design-driven approach, ToyBox alters the meaning of an aid carton, from purely utilitarian, expendable cardboard box to an opportunity for engagement, play and discovery.

Tactile supports for wayfinding

The bachelor thesis (ISIA Urbino, supervisor: Luciano Perondi) investigates the problem of accessibility within the graphical representation of space and takes the form of a tactile artefact accessible to the blind and visually impaired. The goal is to make the geography of an area available both in economic as well as content terms, thanks to the combination of a low-cost printing technique and a specific representative approach. The project consists of a set of tactile maps and a research programme that documents the design process and the first phase of testing with blind people.

The book illustrated the life stories of an ADHD child and his family, not only helped public to understand the practical problems faced by the family, but also to empathise with the SEN children and their parents regarding their struggles by using different colour filters to look through the inner world of the characters (Red–reflects the SEN child, Green–reflects their parents, Blue–reflects public) in the book. It is expected that the public can have more understanding and acceptance.

Hanoi Mirror House

Upon entering the Mirror House in Hanoi’s Reunion Park, visitors are swept into the depths of the ocean as they explore the wonders and beauty of the sea. Brilliant colored ceramic mosaic murals feature snails, starfish, sea anemones and a wide array of tropical fish. Mirrors add a sense of magic and intrigue. This experience was captured by painter Nguyen Thu Thuy and her colleagues in a 3D artistic expression. Being able to develop a deep appreciation for public art is rare in Vietnam, but Thu Thuy is breaking the barriers.
